THRIFT SHOP: If you haven’t yet visited
the Valley Health Council Thrift Shop, located on Route 30 immediately
north of Mary Meyer toy factory and museum, you’re in for
a surprise. The merchandise is excellent and the prices are unbeatable.
The Thrift Shop is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday between
10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Please do not leave donations when the shop isn’t
open – they get ruined when they’re left out in the
rain, snow, sleet, hail, and all the other types of precipitation
we get in Vermont!
HOLIDAY RAFFLE: Thanks to everyone who bought
tickets and those who donated prizes, this raffle was a success.
Jill Dean won the basket of goodies; the set of glasses from Taft
Hill went to Sandy Westcott, and Kathleen Plimpton won the birdfeeder
made by Earl Lackey.
SCHOLARSHIP: Through the continued generosity
of the Crowell family, the $1000 Robert Crowell Memorial Scholarship
will again be offered this year. Residents of Townshend, Jamaica,
Newfane, Brookline, Wardsboro or Stratton who are pursuing healthcare
careers are eligible to apply. Applications are due by June 30,
2003, and the scholarship is awarded in July.
SENIOR VAN: Ridership has increased on the shopping
trips to Brattleboro and Springfield, but there’s still room
for more. For the convenience of the riders, the schedule has been
changed. The Springfield trip is now on the first and third Tuesday
of every month – to sign up, call Liza at 874-4258 to make
a reservation. The Brattleboro trip is now on the first and third
Wednesday of each month – call Elaine at 365-7140 x. 118 to
reserve a seat.
TOENAIL CLINIC: This free service is held on the
second Thursday of the month from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Conference
Wing. No appointment is necessary, but if you’ve never attended
before, call 365-7140 x 118 in advance for more information. This
service is provided by Mary Western, RN, who is trained in foot
care.
