NEW DIRECTOR OF NURSING JOINS GRACE COTTAGE
January
8, 2007 was a banner day at Grace Cottage - not only did the
staff welcome a new CEO for the first time in 13 years, but
also a new Director of Nursing, Betty Ann Hazell.
Betty Ann has had extensive management experience;
she most recently worked as Director of Patient Care Services
for Greenfield Area Medical Center in Greenfield, Ohio. Prior
to holding this position, Betty Ann was Chief Operating Officer/Director
of Nursing at St. Vincent Hospital in Leadville, Colorado.
A native of Pennsylvania, she holds a Bachelor of Science
in Nursing from Gwynedd Mercy College in Springhouse, PA,
and a Masters of Arts in Nursing from NYU in Manhattan. “I
came to Grace Cottage because it has a very family-like atmosphere,”
said Betty Ann. “I was aware, even prior to my interviews
here, that the excellent care given by the physicians and
staff inspires tremendous community support, and I wanted
to be part of the health care team here.”
Betty Ann’s sister, daughter and grandson live in Chester,
Vermont, where Betty Ann has owned a small horse farm since
1995. “I decided that this is the time of my life when I wanted
to live and work closer to my family,” said Betty Ann, who
has another daughter and two grandchildren in Ambler, PA.
In her spare time, Betty Ann enjoys knitting, especially sweaters.
Former Director of Nursing Barbara Williams
is now Grace Cottage’s Director of Education and Emergency
Preparedness Coordinator.
