| HEARTFELT TESTIMONIALS CONTINUE....
Nov. 11, 2005
Dear Grace Cottage Hospital,
I would like to heartily thank Dr. Backus and Conn Rose,
who were on duty this past Tuesday morning when I had a stroke
that laid me flat on the kitchen floor. My partner, Richard
Haas, acted quickly and called 911. Within minutes, a crew
of very knowledgeable and compassionate guys whisked me away
to the waiting crew in the Emergency Room at Grace Cottage.
I now know how lucky I am to be here, now able to write this
letter, thanks to everyone’s quick response to my situation.
How many ways can one say “thank you” and express
gratitude? Within minutes, I was in the helicopter, thanks
to help from the Townshend Fire Department (what a town to
live in!!) on my way to Dartmouth Medical Center in Lebanon,
NH, where my extended thanks and gratitude must continue. The
care and attention now continues by all the people at Grace
Cottage. May God bless you all, as He has surely blessed me.

Dear Grace Cottage Hospital,
After days of trying to help me, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical
Center arranged my stay at Grace Cottage with the hope that,
in your care, I might get better and be able to return home.
I was received by Dr. Linder and, in his care, my persistent
Afib abated; I went home in 2 weeks.
The nurses at Grace Cottage, without exception, were lov-ing,
kind, and capable, with endless patience (especially Suzanne
Skarsten, who was a real Godsend). Your social worker, Carol
VanderTuin, was a warm and thoughtful encourager. It was a
special time when she joined me and my daughter and grandchildren
in the lovely Garden of Grace. We hardly realized that this
was a hospital....more like the home of a good friend!
When it was time to go home, I was given a ride by your maintenance
director, Jim Crozier, a kind and upbeat gentleman. I am thankful
that I have had the privilege of being cared for by Grace
Cottage (a name that has been given, so appropriately, to
the hospital in Townshend).

“You have a very unique situation at Grace Cottage
Hospital with regard to putting patient care as your first
priority, and the obvious respect the staff has for one another
is an example not often seen in the work place today. It is
encouraging to know that this local area has a health service
that really cares.”

“During Christmas vacation in Newfane,
our son went to lean back against a headboard and split his
head open on the evening of January 1 [2005]. As bothered
as I was by all the blood, I knew it would be okay because
we had Grace Cottage just a few minutes away. The staff was
wonderful, as always. This last visit was David’s third
in his five-and-a-half years! David is the fourth generation
in our family to be taken care of by your wonderful medical
facility. Thanks to all for being there, once again, for my
family in our time of need.”

“A number of years ago our kids
required stitches, one after the other, after a few typical
kid-type incidents. A week later, my husband was working on
a construction job in Massachusetts, and fell through some
deck floor joists. His face was very badly cut. Instead of
going to a hospital down there, he drove himself back to Grace
Cottage for treatment because he knew they’d see him
fast and they’d do a good job. As he walked into the
ER, he heard someone say, ‘And here comes another bleeding
Capponcelli!’ He knew that he was in the right place!”
