| NEW DIGITAL X-RAY FOR GRACE COTTAGE
Thanks to an extremely generous donation made by Barbara Levinson
and the Morris Levinson Foundation in memory of “dear friends and
neighbors, Brian Douglas Evans & John Kenneth
Galbraith”, Grace Cottage will soon have new digital X-ray equipment.
Thanks to this new equipment, patient X-rays will be immediately
accessible to physicians at Grace Cottage as well as to the radiologists
who read them at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, facilitating
a quicker diagnosis. The digital X-rays will also provide a higher degree
of clarity, and adjustments can be made in zoom, brightness and
contrast. The digital system involves no film, no film processor, no
chemicals, and no need for the lengthy and cumbersome process of
developing.
“This will make such a difference in the quality and efficiency of the
X-ray process,” said Joel Tidd, Grace Cottage’s radiologic technologist.
“We’ll be able to take crisper, clearer X-rays, and then have them
read by a radiologist so much faster. For the past 20 years, volunteers
have transported the X-ray films to Brattleboro, where they’re read
by a radiologist, and the results get back to us in about 24 hours. This
digital procedure has the ability to get the information to a radiologist
within seconds, rather than in hours.”
